Dutch Ambassador's Visit
The Blue Star Programme is designed to be as curriculum-friendly as possible so it can fit in with lessons already in place in our classroom. It also aims to draw in the wider school and local community. Therefore, on Friday, 17th January, we were delighted to welcome to St. Comgall’s N.S. the Dutch Ambassador to Ireland, Mr. Adriaan Palm and his secretary Ciara. Ambassador Palm was visiting a number of local businesses in Clones and was told that we were studying Europe as part of the Blue Star Programme in our school. When he arrived he spoke to the pupils about normal life home in The Netherlands and during a very interesting PowerPoint presentation on the Netherlands, he highlighted the fundamental values that both Ireland and the Netherlands share. There followed an exciting question and answer session, during which the pupils had the opportunity to explore the role of an ambassador and the function of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Finally, he gifted us with some lovely Dutch keyrings. Thank you for your visit Ambassador Palm; having spoken so enthusiastically about your own career path, we hope to inspire some future Irish Ambassadors here at St. Comgall’s N.S.!
